Fiber is now reaching the smaller business environments. More businesses gain access to higher bandwidth and fiber connectivity for Internet access. Building fiber to businesses is realizing better ROI for carriers. Gigabit services are becoming the standard.
Cable companies continue to expand in the business space, adding fiber to their offerings. In the meantime, Ethernet-over-copper (EoC) is improving, giving companies without fiber also better high-speed options. As companies get better connections they will exchange more data, accelerating their need for broadband and dedicated Internet access.
Investments in bandwidth will continue increasing, up to $14B in 2020. In the mean time prices per MB will drop as the competition grows. Transporting data wholesale across the Internet has come down in cost dramatically.
At one point, Internet transit prices were at $1,200 per Mbps, in 2015 those will be merely a fraction of that number. Interested in your price?
